Zelensky: Trump's American negotiators to visit both Moscow and Kyiv soon

Zelensky: Trump

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that President Donald Trump's American negotiating team will visit both Moscow and Kyiv in the coming days. He shared the news on his Telegram channel following a meeting with the team handling talks with representatives of the US president.

"We're in contact with them almost around the clock, seven days a week, and we're now preparing for meetings. There are preliminary dates," Zelensky wrote. According to him, the Ukrainian side has received confirmation that meetings will take place in both Moscow and Kyiv, with the visit expected "in the coming days."

Who's leading the negotiations

Zelensky stressed how crucial it is for the US to remain actively engaged in the peace process. "It's important that America stays active. We're ready to meet with them in Ukraine — at the proper level and with real substance," the Ukrainian president added.

Negotiating on Trump's behalf are real estate mogul Steve Witkoff and the president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner. Both have already made several trips to Moscow, but neither has yet visited Kyiv.

US eases pace amid conflict with Iran

According to AFP, the American side has scaled back its efforts to broker peace in Russia's war against Ukraine in recent months, as Washington's attention has shifted to the ongoing conflict with Iran.

Any potential talks in Kyiv would take place against the backdrop of intensified Russian missile and drone strikes on the Ukrainian capital, whose residents face round-the-clock terror without respite.
