Cvancara set to leave Borussia Mönchengladbach as Hradec Králové awaits the forward

Czech national team striker Tomáš Cvančara is leaving the Bundesliga — according to German broadcaster Sky, the 26-year-old forward is close to a loan move to Czech league club Hradec Králové. Borussia Mönchengladbach, for whom he has played over the past three years, had earlier decided the player should be either sold or loaned out.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Borussia and Hradec Králové have already reached a verbal agreement on a one-year loan with no option to buy. The player's medical is scheduled for Thursday.

What the club is saying

At a press conference following the match in Brno against Zbrojovka, Hradec Králové coach David Horejš gave an evasive answer when asked about Cvančara's possible arrival: "You probably know more than I do, we'll see." He did, however, admit that the team is clearly lacking a striker: "In spots we created an advantage, but everything fizzled out near the box. We're working on strengthening the squad, we'll see how it turns out."

Last week a possible loan to Danish side Aarhus was discussed, but no final agreement was reached at the time.

The forward's career since leaving Sparta

Cvančara moved from Sparta to Borussia Mönchengladbach three years ago. Over two seasons — 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 — he made 53 Bundesliga appearances and scored 6 goals. Last autumn the forward already went out on loan to Turkish side Antalyaspor, and this spring he tried to relaunch his career at Scottish club Celtic, but failed to break through there either, largely due to an adductor muscle injury that required surgery. As a result, Celtic chose not to make the move permanent.

If the deal with Hradec Králové goes through, it will be Cvančara's third loan spell since his move from Sparta to the German club.
