European swimming champion takes fencer husband's surname

A well-known Czech swimmer and four-time European champion has announced on social media that she has taken a new surname after marrying fencer Choupenitch. Alongside a pool photo showing the new name already on her swim cap, the 26-year-old athlete wrote a brief caption: "From now on, racing as Mrs. Choupenitch."

Choupenitch, who is six years older than his wife, won Olympic bronze in Tokyo five years ago and added gold to his collection this year, becoming world champion in Hong Kong as a foil fencer from Brno. He then travelled to Paris to support his bride as she competed for the European title.
