In the Pilsen Region, an owner tied her dog to a road sign, leaving a farewell note and 500 crowns

In late July, a dog tied to a road sign with wire was found by the roadside in the Pilsen Region. According to Andrea Gašparec, chairwoman of the "U Františka" association, which helps abandoned and abused animals, the dog was in good physical condition, and a farewell letter from its owner was found lying beside it.

"The owner wrote that she could no longer cope with caring for the dog, named Daška, because she has other dogs as well. Daška is smart and cheerful, and since she's a Labrador mix, she's also quite spirited — she needs plenty of activity," Gašparec said. Along with the letter, the owner left 500 crowns next to the dog.

The dog has already completed the mandatory quarantine, and the shelter managed to find her a new family. According to Gašparec, her future owners have already been visiting Daška, and in September they will take her home for good.

A similar case in Tábor

A similar incident occurred in June in the South Bohemian town of Tábor, where an owner tied a roughly forty-kilogram dog to a fence. Food, a blanket, and a note explaining the dog's background were left beside the animal. However, the dog, named Manny, became aggressive due to the stress of the ordeal and had to be sedated, after which the city police handed him over to a local shelter.
