Škoda Peaq drives 936 km on a single charge — new Czech record

The Škoda Peaq electric car has driven 936 kilometres without a single recharge — from Mladá Boleslav in Czechia to the Dutch seaside resort of Zandvoort. The record run took place on Tuesday, 25 August, and resulted in an official Czech record for the longest journey by an electric vehicle on a single battery charge, the automaker reports.

The idea of testing the real-world capabilities of the brand's flagship electric model, launched earlier this year, came from two company employees — Peaq project manager Marek Jež and battery specialist Jakub Krs. Their goal was to show what a modern EV can do when pushed to its absolute limit.

How the drive went

The crew originally expected to cover somewhere between 850 and 900 kilometres and planned to reach Amsterdam. An AI tool helped them plot a route with minimal traffic and the smoothest possible driving conditions. Behind the wheel was a series-production Škoda Peaq 90 with rear-wheel drive, an 86 kWh usable battery and 210 kW of power — a version that, on 19-inch wheels, is officially rated for around 646 kilometres under the WLTP cycle.

Before setting off, the charging port cover was sealed to prevent any recharging along the way. The attempt was monitored by TÜV Süd, with the Czech Book of Records also tracking the result. Since stopping to recharge was out of the question, drivers swapped at the wheel roughly every two hours, and even more frequently overnight. In the early morning hours, the crew took a short rest before continuing on toward the Netherlands.

Finishing on empty

Once it became clear that the battery had more left in it than expected, the team adjusted their route: instead of finishing in Amsterdam, they redirected to the North Sea coastal town of Zandvoort. By the time the car rolled in, the range indicator was already showing zero.

In total, the electric car covered 936 kilometres on a single charge, averaging 9.2 kWh per 100 kilometres. According to the automaker, this is not only the best result ever recorded for the Peaq crossover, but also an officially recognised Czech record for the longest range of an electric vehicle on a single charge.
