Man stabs himself in the stomach during Roma celebration near Pilsen

In the village of Kamenný Újezd near Nýřany in the Pilsen Region, a man stabbed himself in the stomach during a Roma celebration. The incident took place shortly before 10 p.m., and the injured 47-year-old man, who suffered severe injuries, was taken to Pilsen University Hospital, police said.

According to police spokeswoman Iva Vršecká, officers received a report of a man with a stab wound. "According to information gathered so far, the man, who was in a severe mental state, injured himself," she said. It later emerged that the incident occurred during a Roma party, where an argument broke out: the man picked up a knife and began cutting himself. Police who arrived at the scene handed him over to paramedics.

Luboš Bouček, spokesman for the regional emergency medical service, said the man had serious wounds to the abdomen. "We treated the patient, and an ambulance took him to the emergency department of Pilsen University Hospital," he added. Before transporting him, police wanted to give the man a breathalyzer test, but he refused. Police continue to investigate and are working to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
