Tiny Hungarian village named the country's most "sex-obsessed" place

Who topped the ranking

This year's annual ranking of Hungarian towns by how often people search for the word "sex" is topped by Nemesrádó, a village of just 305 people in western Hungary. The ranking has been compiled since 2015 for the dating site szexrandi.hu, based on Google Trends data — a tool that shows how often residents of cities and villages type a given word into the search engine.

In this case, analysts tracked how many times residents of each locality searched specifically for the word "sex." Last year's leader, the village of Kiskorpád in the southwest of the country with 936 residents, didn't even make the top ten this time, while Nemesrádó, which took second place a year ago, shot to the top spot.

The top three and the top ten

Second place in the latest ranking went to the village of Mánd in northeastern Hungary, home to just 272 people — the smallest locality in the top three. Rounding out the top three is the village of Regöly, south of Lake Balaton, with 975 residents. According to the Hungarian portal index.hu, residents of these particular towns searched the internet for the word "sex" more often this year than anywhere else in the country. The rest of the top ten was made up of towns and villages with populations ranging from 395 to 4,137.

An awkward monument in Devecser

The town of Devecser, which took tenth place in the ranking, deserves special mention. In late August 2026, it unexpectedly became famous across the whole country: a monument was erected there for the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Mohács, whose shape bore an unmistakable resemblance to a giant phallus. The sculpture stood on its pedestal for only a few days before being hastily dismantled following a wave of criticism.

The index.hu portal couldn't resist a bit of irony: "The shape of the monument may not have been a coincidence, since Devecser is also on the list of towns whose residents most often search the internet for the word 'sex,'" the outlet noted.
