A woman cyclist has died on the road between the villages of Bítov and Chvalatice in the Znojmo region. According to police, she lost control while making a turn, crashed and fell unconscious, later dying from her injuries.
Police spokeswoman Andrea Cejnková said the woman was wearing a helmet, but it was not enough to save her life.
Paramedics who arrived at the scene immediately began resuscitation efforts, but despite their best attempts, they were unable to revive her. According to Michaela Bótová, spokeswoman for the emergency medical service, a rescue helicopter was called in from neighbouring Austria, as the Czech helicopter was already engaged on another call at the time. The Austrian helicopter ultimately returned empty-handed, as the woman no longer needed help.
