A woman arrested on suspicion of theft in the US has unexpectedly become an internet sensation thanks to her striking resemblance to singer and actress Jennifer Lopez. The 35-year-old Minnesota resident, surnamed Kwastova, was arrested in late August after allegedly stealing two power-tool batteries worth a total of $580 (more than 12,000 CZK), according to the New York Post.

An ordinary theft case would hardly have drawn public attention — if not for one striking detail: in her police booking photo, the suspect bore an uncanny resemblance to 57-year-old Jennifer Lopez.

Jokes and memes flood social media

The mugshot quickly spread across social networks, sparking a wave of comments. "For a second I thought that was JLo," one user wrote, referencing the singer's famous nickname — a blend of Jennifer and Lopez.

Others were just as creative. "In prison, she's known as Jenny from Cell Block D," joked one commenter, riffing on Lopez's hit song "Jenny from the Block." Some even jokingly suggested the woman take a DNA test to find out whether she and the singer might be related.

The day after her arrest, police released the suspect. However, according to publicly available court records, this was reportedly not her first brush with the law, the outlet notes.
